Nuno Alecrim
Portugal
With a background in graphic communication design, Portuguese artist Nuno Alecrim explores the visual arts based on pictographic language, combining symbols, textures and patterns with experimental compositions. Largely monochromatic, marked by its influence of roots and connection with the primitive and the elementary. His works take the viewer on a journey without borders, in a single graphic language.
Introducing the "Fragments" collection, minimalism and concretism take the same approach, deconstructing the ethnic Tower of Babel and arriving at pure geometric design, with clean design, from monochromatic to the use of gold. From a post-Expo 98 generation, when Portugal presented a great change in artistic aspects, opening up to so many different cultures, Nuno is a reflection of contemporary arts in the country.
